The Mission of High Desert Yoga is to create a nurturing environment that supports our community of students and teachers as they deepen their experience of body, mind and spirit. Through the teaching and practice of asanas (poses), pranayama (breath), and yoga philosophy, we strive to promote optimum physical health, clarity of mind and spiritual inspiration for all. We also invite you to our new Healing Arts Center; a wellness clinic offering the community a wide variety of holistic healing services and therapies. We will provide you with all that is needed to safely and comfortably begin your yoga practice offering you yoga classes, yoga workshops, yoga retreats and yoga teacher trainings.
High Desert Yoga opened its doors in 1995 with the goal of graciously welcoming everyone to the study and practice of yoga. We seek to make the healing benefits of yoga available to all ages and abilities from youngsters to elders, from novice to advanced practitioners, including people with therapeutic needs. We offer beginning and advanced classes along with an array of specialty classes, workshops, teacher trainings and retreats.
Since 1996, we have been contributing to our growing community of dedicated yoga teachers and practitioners in our highly regarded 200 hour Intensive Self-Study and 300 hour Teacher Training Program, led by master resident teacher Kim Schwartz and HDY founder, Zoreh Afsarzadeh.
We offer specialty workshops with our own senior teachers and celebrated guest instructors that have included Angela Farmer, Judith Lasater, Donna Farhi, Rama Vernon, Erich Shiffmann, Francois Raoult, Elise Miller.
Every year we welcome new and returning friends to transformational and rejuvenating week-long yoga retreats hosted and taught by, Zoreh Afsarzadeh on the beach in Troncones, Mexico. We also offer special retreats that give us the opportunity to practice yoga while exploring new places and cultures in locations such as Costa Rica, India, Peru as well as our own beloved New Mexico.
