with Restorative Yoga and supine Pranayama practice.
Re-center and nourish the roots of your adaptability, clarity, and resilience through deep, accessible Iyengar yoga practice, including asana, pranayama, reflection, radical relaxation, and more. Embodiment + awareness provide integration for our bodies, nervous systems, minds, and hearts.
In this Restorative Yoga class we will practice a short seated meditation, fully-supported, long-held yoga poses and a relaxing savasana. If you don’t have props, I’ll give options for how to use common household items to support your practice. The zoom room will be open 15 minutes prior to and after the class, so we’ll have time to check in and connect.
Avery Kalapa, Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT), has been practicing yoga for 20+ years and teaching since 2004. She has studied with the Iyengar family and many others around the US and in India. The Iyengar method, experiential anatomy, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Vipassana meditation and healing justice are foundational to her practice. Precision, playful courage, and commitment to the spiritual dimension enliven her teaching. Avery brings a depth of skill, rigor, and compassion which creates not only safety and accessibility, but inspiration and transformation. She holds a BFA, is certified in Yoga for the Pelvic Floor, and ERYT500 and YACEP through Yoga Alliance. Avery understands that the work of inner liberation is inseparable from dismantling systems of oppression and collective liberation. She helps run ABQ Queer Trans Community Yoga and is a mother of 2. This class will take place on Zoom. Register for the class at least 30 minutes beforehand. You will receive the Zoom link in a confirmation email at the end of the registration process and again in a reminder email one day before the class. Please join the Zoom meeting 10–15 minutes before the class begins.
While you do not need a Zoom plan to participate, you can set up a free Basic Zoom Plan to practice using Zoom.
